I have this pushdown/slidein clasp and I don't like it. It always ends up falling off at some point because eventually my wrist rubs against something and then the bracelet falls and almost gets lost.
The problem is that on the bottom of it it says the 925 proving its valid sterling silver. What's the best way to fix this nice bracelet?
You could straighten out the bent bayonet or you could replace it with a toggle and ring, me, I think that I'd try and fix the original clasp or replace it with a new one.
Hi PersOn
Could be the catch has become compressed and needs opening a little.
Use a penknife in the v shape opening and widen the tails of the v a little - has worked for me.
Or if the inside of the female part has worn then you may have to replace the whole catch.
You could try opening up the insert side of the clasp, giving it a bit more hold. Or you could add a safety chain, use a couple inches of small, but heavy link chain and solder an end to either side of the clasp. if it gets bumped, the safety chain will catch it before it falls off.
