I am new to using epoxy on my metal findings. I am using it to affix the decoration (which is metal) to the metal finding. For the most part it is holding very well. My question is: when it doesn't hold and I want to try epoxying it again, do I have to remove the old, cured epoxy or can I leave the old stuff there and apply epoxy over it? And if I must remove it, how do I do that? Any help is much appreciated.
Good question! I always get out my flex shaft and grind off the old epoxy and rough up the metal surface a bit to give it some "tooth" for the epoxy to grab hold of. If possible rough up both metal surfaces so the epoxy has something to bite into and interlock into, it will help form a longer lasting bond.
