The place is in central oregon at OMSI camp Hancock. the classes start tuesday thru saturday 8 am to 5 pm. the charge for room and board is under 400 dollars some classes have a material charge. The object of these classes is to get the student comfortable with new techneques so they can continue at home. the instucters are volenteers with many years in the hobby and master awards at the AFMS leval. The classes taught are Faceting, Cabachons, Intarsia, Wirewraping, bead stringing, doublets and triplets, silversmithing(fabracation) and lost wax casting. The classes are like the ones at Wildacres. We are not as rigid as wildacres you can take multable classes at camp Hancock. you can get more info at amfed.org/nfms or I can answer most questions you may have.
The cost for the week is determined by OMSI, they lease the place to the Federation. The classes are included in the fee and each one has a materials charge depending on the class and materials used. That charge is deteremined as the time draws closer and the projects are decided on. The materials are based on what the instructor has to pay. The instructors do not get paid for this it is strictly volunteer. The only reimbursement they get is gas money. We are there only to help others learn our hobbies and not to make money. Some instructors will have extra materials you can purchase. Some will have a variety of projects, each may have a different price on it depending on the amount of material used. You will know the price before you start each project. The classes fill up early so if you want to sign up you need to do so by February.
