Carats of Carrots and Christian Hemmerle's Gemstone Vegetable Brooches

Welcome to Stuff We Love, a fun catch-all sort of place where we can share inspiring jewelry designs and jewelry-making products!

I was so enamored with today's topic that I created this new blog, just so I could share it with you. How gorgeous are these lovelies?

Designed by Christian Hemmerle (of the famous European jewelry-royalty Hemmerle family), these silver, copper, and gemstone brooches celebrate the beauty found in . . . vegetables! In addition to being gorgeous, their realism astounds me. Being smack in the middle of summer in the South, there's fresh corn everywhere--but now when I see it, instead of "yummm," I think "pearls!"

I also have to laugh about the cauliflower, because when I asked a guest who is coming to a dinner at my house next week if there's anything I should avoid in the menu, cauliflower was his only request. Being a jewelry designer himself, I'm sure he wouldn't mind seeing this cauliflower on the table! Think those are diamonds? Swoon!

These precious veggies are part of a twelve-piece collection Hemmerle displayed in March at the European Fine Art Fair in the Netherlands. Wouldn't you have loved to see his radish made with juicy red spinels or his copper artichoke accented with purple sapphires? How about a pea pod made of jade or an eggplant encrusted in purple spinel? Included in the collection of brooches was a pair of carrot earrings made of bright orange sapphires. I love this mix of whimsy and finery, gemstones and nature. What do you think?

This is amazing! I often times make similar style things and I'm astounded by the craftsmanship of these. That's the real feast of creativity! Thank you for posting them.

Oh the wonders of nature.  The human mind — the splendor of the minerals it supplies ,and the modest gift of  sustenance ....

All combined to become ''a feast for the eye'  sorry for the pun,

Just couldn't help my self.

Truly though amazing without all three components what a colorless, cold and dull place it would be.

Thanks for taking the time to put this all together,  for all to enjoy.
